Classes Requiring Instructor/Departmental Permission

To register for classes that require instructor and/or departmental permission, students should contact the appropriate academic department. If permission is granted, the academic department will code the permission on screen SFASRPO, using the following functions:

ADMIN -- Overrides everything (course controls, enrollment limits, and time conflicts)
CAPACITY -- Overrides closed classes.
INSTR APPR-- Overrides courses that require instructor approval (located on SSASECT)

CHAIR APPR--Overrides courses that require chair approval (located on SSASECT)

DEAN APPR-- Overrides courses that require dean approval (located on SSASECT)

PRE-REQS--Overrides course pre-requisites or test score requirements

PROGRAM--Overrides major requirement or program of study restrictions

TIME-CONF--Overrides time conflicts in meeting patterns.

Permission will remain on-line until the end of the "Add" period for the semester. After the "Add" period is over, all on-line permits will be purged.

  • Any student not enrolled in the class by the department or dean's office should be informed that he/she MUST follow through and use WRS to add the class.
  • It is not necessary to bring written permission to the Registrar's Office.

Continuing Students

Students enrolled for current term will receive notification by e-mail to view their registration status and initial access appointment on AppalNET. The registration status page will indicate:

  • Date and time the student may initially access WRS (Web Registration System) for registration based upon earned hours and in-progress hours..
  • Information about required advisement and/or registration holds.

Students who fail to remember their password may reset it on the AppalNET homepage.

A WRS worksheet will be sent to the academic advisor of each student required to be advised. The worksheet will contain the six-digit advisement number, required for access to WRS for fall 2008 registration.

  • No advisement number is required for summer registration.
  • Any student who misplaces his or her WRS worksheet, should return to their advisor and have the advisement number duplicated.
  • Dean's and department offices will have a master list containing advisement numbers on EPrint.
  • The Registrar's Office will not release advisement numbers to students.

For students not requiring advisement, a WRS worksheet and Schedule Planner are available on AppalNET at a new link titled Registration Tips. They will not need an advisement number to access the WRS.

NOTE: WRS is programmed to DENY access to any student with hold flags on SOAHOLD. All hold flags must be cleared by the appropriate office(s) before access to WRS will be allowed

Web Registration System (WRS) Registration Appointments

Each student eligible for registration is assigned an appointment by day and time, allowing initial and on-going access to registration for specific terms. After appointments are assigned, students are notified electronically by e-mail and the Personal Announcements and Notification System (PANS) to view their appointment information using AppalNET. The Registration Status link, on the Student Services page in AppalNET, informs the student of various items that affect their registration. This page includes appointment information, required advising status, and any holds that would prevent registration.
