Graduate & Doctoral Research Registration
Graduate Research Registration
Requirements for Graduation Policy
" Persons who wish to graduate in a certain term must: 1) be registered for at least one semester hour for that term; 2) apply for graduation by the deadline for that term; and 3) have completed all graduation requirements or be able to complete all graduation requirements by the end of that term."
The following registration procedures are followed in order to comply with this policy.
- A student who requests full access to facilities is instructed to register for an on campus course. If all required courses have been completed, they are advised to talk with their departmental advisor concerning the possibility of taking an independent/individual study course. Once approvals have been given, the student completes the registration for the course. The student pays on campus tuition and fees, and has access to all campus facilities.
- For access to email and library facilities only, a student may request registration for the appropriate 1.0 semester hour Graduate Research course (5989). The request should be made in writing to the Registrar's Office. The course is set up using an Extension section number (375) and registration completed. The student pays Extension tuition and fees.
After the last day to apply for graduation, the Registrar's Office produces a list of students who have applied to graduate for that term but are not registered for course(s). Registration is completed for the appropriate 1.0 semester hour Graduate Research course (5989). The course is set up using an Extension section number (375). The student has access to email and library facilities only. A mailer is sent to each student to inform them that the registration will be completed by a specific date.
Leave of Absence Policy
"A graduate student who has begun work toward a graduate degree but who is not enrolled during a specific academic term will be officially classified as being on leave of absence. A student who is on leave of absence will have no access to university resources, and cannot schedule and pass a thesis or dissertation defense, nor take a comprehensive or qualifying examinations."
