Guidelines for Use of the Student Identification Number (SSN)

Applications for admission or readmission will contain enhanced information about the submission, use and publication of the student social security number.
All major student service offices are encouraged to install card readers to input SID's into the information systems.
Offices should, when possible, use Name inquiry in lieu of the SID.
Workstations should be configured to protect the display of student information to the general public.
Remove the SID and replace it with alternate identifier on all reports and forms.
Use alternate identifiers for test scoring or computing processes.
