Student Information System (SIS) Access

Requesting SIS Access

  1. The Department Chair or Supervisor logs in to Electronic Forms and clicks on "Information Technology Services"
  2. Then "University Computer Accounts"
  3. Then "Request Account Options"
  4. Enter username of employee who needs access
  5. Check 001 SIS-Student Information Systems
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Submit"
  7. The form will be routed electronically and the employee will hear from the Registrar's Office as soon as possible.

After you receive you operator number and password

  1. Enter the ASU computer system using AXP or from the "Activate Computer Account" option on the Support page for ASU Faculty/Staff and proceed to the $ prompt.
  2. At the $ prompt type: SIS (press Enter)
  3. When the SIS screen comes up, enter your SIS access codes in the three fields:
    System number:    001   (for SIS)
    Operator number:  _____ (your SIS operator number)
    Password:  _______ (your SIS Password - must use uppercase letters)
  4. Press Enter. The blank spaces are called fields. Data is entered at the space with the blinking cursor. When information is entered, the cursor jumps to the next field. When all information is entered (screen number, term, etc.), press Enter to proceed. The most commonly used fields are:

    SCREEN - - -  Enter the number of the desired screen
    SID - - - - - - - Social security number or the student's name if you don't know the number
    COURSE - - - The course number and, sometimes, the section number
    TERM - - - - - The number code for the term you wish to view The term number is a three digit number. The first two digits are for the year and the last number is for the term. The numbers for the terms are as follows: 1 is spring, 2 is first summer session, 3 is second summer session and 4 is fall; For example: Fall 2006 is 064, and Spring 2007 is 071.

    The keys used to navigate in SIS are:
    TAB - - - - - - - to move the cursor one field forward
    CTRL+H - - - - to move the cursor one field backward
    CTRL+L - - - - to move the cursor back to the first field
    CTRL+W - - -  to clear messages that show up on your screen
    F2 and F4 - - - F2 to enter Help and F4 to exit (on most keyboards)

  6. To exit SIS, type SO in the SCREEN field.

To get a paper print of the information on the SIS screen, press Print Screen. This prints to the printer you have designated as your default printer.
