Managing Your Academic Career
Electronic Access
AppalNET is Appalachian State University's single source computer account for access to email, student data and instructional information. Using AppalNET, a student will be able to view important personal and campus announcements and have quick access to numerous electronic resources. By selecting the Student Services tab inside AppalNET, students may view their information regarding class offerings, registration status, detailed class schedule, academic transcripts, grade reports and account balances. In addition, students may process address changes, complete registration activities and make credit card payments on their account.
Please note that it is the student's responsibility to check their AppalNET account and student ASU post office box regularly for official correspondence from the University.
Student Account Information
From the Student Services tab, students will be able to check their account summary, make credit card payments and check for any holds they may have. Student Account holds can affect a student's ability to process registration or request copies of official transcripts. The Office of Student Accounts is responsible for the billing, receipting, and depositing of all University related funds. Their office is located in the John E. Thomas Hall, room 215 - phone number 828-262-2113.
Billing statements are mailed for early registration to the student's permanent/billing address. Payment for early registration must be received by the date stated on the bill. If payment is not received by the given date, the student's early registration schedule will be canceled.
Enrollment Verification -- Self Service
In cooperation with the National Student Clearinghouse, Appalachian State is providing a free self-service program that allows students to verify and view enrollment information. From the Clearinghouse site, students may access the following services:
- Obtain an enrollment certificate to print and mail to healthcare providers, insurance companies or other agencies that request proof of enrollment status
- View the enrollment information on file with the Clearinghouse.
- View the student loan deferment notifications that the Clearinghouse has provided to loan lenders and guarantors.
- View the proof(s) of enrollment that the Clearinghouse has provided to health insurers and other providers of student services or products.
- View specific information about student loans.
Students may access the "Enrollment Verification Self-Service" link from AppalNET. The link is located under the Student Campus Resources heading in the Academic Resources column. The "Self-Service" link will connect students to the National Clearinghouse Self-Service login site. After students accurately complete the log-in information, they will be forwarded to a "Welcome" page and prompted to select a service.
Personal Announcements (PANS)
PANS is a web-based notification system to disseminate information from various campus offices to the student AppalNET account. Messages can be reviewed, stored or deleted. When the student accesses the account, the personal announcements are available by clicking on "View Announcements."
