Fall Convocation
Convocation Invitation from the Chancellor
Appalachian State University’s 22nd annual convocation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the George M. Holmes Convocation Center. The featured address will be given by Greg Mortenson, author of Three Cups of Tea.
As has become our practice, we will begin and end the event with an academic procession and recession. Classes on Thursday, September 10, will begin at 12:30 p.m. in order that faculty, staff, and students, may attend this and other important events to be held that day. Faculty are asked to encourage the attendance of their students.
The convocation is being held for the entire Appalachian community. With that in mind, supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to participate in convocation and related events. As these are official university events, employee participation is considered as time worked.
This convocation marks the 110th year of our founding and is an opportunity for those of us in the academic community to celebrate Appalachian's past, present, and future. I encourage you to enthusiastically support this event with your presence.
- Dr. Kenneth E. Peacock, Chancellor
