REGISTRATION AND GRADE INFORMATION

Registration for Spring 2008 will be possible through the WEB Registration System (WRS) for students in continuing off-campus programs.  WRS is part of the WEB technologies now available for remote access of student information. (Registration for the first term of a new cohort program will be conducted on site.)

HOW DO I ACCESS THE SYSTEM?

WRS access to AppalNET is granted by using your Computer User Identification Number and Password. (For the mechanics of how one registers, see the worksheet for WRS.)

WHO IS ALLOWED TO REGISTER?

All continuing students enrolled during the Fall Semester 2007 and classified as degree-seeking will be given access to WRS (so long as the student is academically eligible and has no outstanding balance on the student account).  This includes graduate students, undergraduate students, and "special students" officially recognized as seeking teacher licensure.

Returning students NOT enrolled during the Fall Semester 2007 must be formally re-admitted to the University before having access to WRS.  To be re-admitted, students should contact the Office of Extension & Distance Education by calling 1-800-355-4084.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER?

Students enrolled during the Fall Semester 2007 are asked to register during the period from November 5 through November 16, 2007.  The procedure and specific time and date on which you have initial access to WRS is on the email sent to your appstate.edu email address.

Please note that WRS is programmed to deny access to a student until the time and date specified in his or her instruction letter.  Once access is given, however, it will continue through registration period specified in the Academic Calendar.

AT WHAT TIME DURING THE DAY IS TRS/WRS AVAILABLE?

During the period when a student has access to the system, WRS will be open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

HOW DO I USE THE SYSTEM?

A set of step-by-step instructions is provided---see the WRS worksheet.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A CLASS THAT REQUIRES SPECIAL PERMISSION?
For registration that requires instructor and/or departmental permission, the student must contact the appropriate academic department.  If permission is given, the academic department will code the permission online, allowing the student to then register by WRS.

WHEN WILL I BE BILLED? WHEN DO I PAY?

If you register during your prescribed registration period, a billing statement will be mailed to your PERMANENT address on November 19, 2007.  Payments should be mailed to: Appalachian State University, Student Accounts Office, John Thomas Hall, ASU BOX 32005, Boone, NC  28608-2005.

Payment by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) is available WRS (Credit Card Payment), or by calling (828) 262-2113.

Students are responsible for the payment of tuition and fees regardless of whether a billing statement is received.

FINAL GRADES

Final grades are available through WRS for the four most recent academic terms.

WHAT IF I HAVE DIFFICULTY USING WRS?

The Office of Extension & Distance Education is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  If you experience difficulty in registering call
1-800-355-4084.

RELEASE OF GRADES
Grades can be obtained at the end of each academic term through WRS.

It is a policy of the State of North Carolina, however, that the University cannot release a transcript or diploma to a student with an unpaid account. In order to comply with this policy, the University will audit the account of every enrolled student approximately two weeks prior to the end of each academic term. Students with unpaid accounts will be so notified and expected to clear the account by the end of that academic term (defined as the last day of examinations). If a student fails to clear the account, the University will, in accordance with State policy, release neither a transcript nor (if applicable) a diploma. (Please note that a charge made against a future term--i.e., a charge made for "early registration"--does not constitute an "unpaid account" in this context.)
