- The student can provide access in Self-Service by using the Proxy Access page.
- Individual University employees or affiliates may decline to provide requested information if they determine that disclosure would be detrimental to the student-institution relationship or impede efficient and effective University operations.

Granting Parent Access
Appalachian State University has developed an option to allow authorized access to student information for parents, guardians or third parties.
The Proxy Access option is available to the student in Self-Service to grant access to the following types of information: Academic Records, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Housing, Athletics Information, Disability Resources, Equal Opportunity/Title IX and/or Conduct Records.
The student must follow these steps to grant access:
- The student logs into Self-Service using the student's Appalachian State University username and password.
- The student selects the Student tab, then Proxy Access.
- From the Proxy Management page, click Add New and complete the information to grant the requested access. Please note that a Passphrase is required for call-in options.
- During this process, the student will select the authorizations that will be granted.
- The student selects the "Submit" button.
- The proxy will receive emails instructing them on how to set up their account.
The student is responsible for providing acurate information related to the person(s) granted access. Call-in requests for information by the specified individual(s) will require the person to have the corresponding authorization, as well as the passphrase..
