Registration and Grade Information
Registration for Spring 2008 will be possible through the WEB Registration System (WRS) via AppalNET.
WRS is part of the WEB technologies now available for remote access to student information. Registration by WRS eliminates the need for being physically present at the University's Registration Center.
How do I access the WRS systems?
WRS access to AppalNET is granted by using your Computer Username and Password. (For the mechanics of how to register, see the "worksheets" in this publication for WRS.)
Who is allowed to register?
All students enrolled during the spring semester, 2008 and classified as degree-seeking will be given access to WRS. This includes graduate students, undergraduate students, and "special students" officially recognized as seeking teacher certification.
Students not enrolled during the spring semester, 2008 must be formally re-admitted to the University before having access to WRS. To be re-admitted, undergraduates must contact the dean's office of the college to which they were assigned when last enrolled; graduate students and special students seeking teacher certification must contact the Registrar's Office.
When can I register?
Students enrolled during the spring, 2008 will be invited to early register during the period from November 5-16. Students will be notified of their registration appointment through AppalNET. From the Student Services menu in AppalNET, students may select the Registration Status page. This page includes appointment information, the specific date and time WRS access is granted and any holds that would prevent registration.
Please note that WRS is programmed to deny access to a student until the time and date specified on the Registration Status page. Once access is given, however, it will continue through early registration and the schedule adjustment periods specified in the "Academic Calendar."
At what time during the days is WRS available?
AppalNET is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any personal computer with an internet connection. Registration assistance is available 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday at 828-262-3135.
How do I register for a class that requires special permission?
For registration that requires instructor and/or departmental permission, the student must contact the appropriate academic department. If permission is given, the academic department will code the permission on-line, allowing the student to then register by WRS.
When will I be billed? When do I pay?
If you register during the early registration period or process any adjustments to your schedule through November 19, 2008, a billing statement will be mailed to your PERMANENT address on November 20, 2008. The payment deadline for these transactions is December 18, 2008. Any registrations occurring after November 19, 2008 will be reflected in a separate bill with a later due date. Account information is accessible on WRS.
Payments can be mailed to Appalachian State University, Student Accounts Office, John E. Thomas Hall, ASU Box 32005, Boone, NC 28608-2005.
Payment by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) is available using WRS (Credit Card Payment), or by calling (828) 262-2113.
NOTE: IF EARLY REGISTERED, TUITION AND FEES FOR THE SPRING 2008 SEMESTER MUST BE PAID BY DECEMBER 18, 2008. FAILURE TO PAY BY DECEMBER 18, 2008 WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES REGARDLESS OF WHETHER A BILLING STATEMENT IS RECEIVED.

Final grades are available through WRS.
